CU to become research hub: V-C
Kolkata The University of Calcutta will soon emerge as the nucleus of research and an important centre for the Central government’s “Look East Policy”, said the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The university has outlined plans to upgrade the existing Center for South and South East Asian Studies.
“CU will emerge as the nucleus around which a number of institutes will develop. It will serve as research hub for policies relating to the ‘Look East Policy’ of the Indian Government,” said Suranjan Das, the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The university authorities said the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, has been invited as chief guest for its annual convocation on October 5. The visit will help the university play a larger role in cultivating Indo-Bhutan ties, said Das.
