Bhutan King Jigme Singhye Wangchuk met Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam, at Rashtrapati Bhavan and discussed bilateral relations and regional and international situation. The meeting lasted for 30 minutes.
The Bhutan Monarch who arrived in New Delhi Wednesday on a six-day working visit, is also scheduled to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday for discussions on bilateral, regional and international situation.
The visit is aimed at strengthening economic and energy cooperation.
He will meet Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the day and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday.
During the visit, the two countries are likely to sign two agreements on trade and commerce and on cooperation in hydro- electricity generation, sources said.
The king is accompanied by Crown Prince Dasho Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Trade Minister Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba, an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said.
He leaves for Kathmandu on 31 July.
